• Mekdela Amba University (MAU) is situated in two campuses, Tulu Awuliya located at Legambo District and Mekane Selam located at Borena District, within the South Wollo Zone of the Amhara Regional State in Ethiopia. A comprehensive ten-year Strategic Plan (2025-2034) has been formulated to steer its transformation into a leading hub for knowledge, research, and innovation for addressing national, regional, and global demands. Founded in November 2015 under Proclamation No. 355/2015, MAU currently accommodates 5,115 undergraduate and 54 postgraduate students, supported by a faculty of 412 and 515 administrative staff across five colleges, one school, and 28 departments.
  • MAU has pinpointed four key areas of focus on Agriculture, Mining, Culture and Tourism, and Technology Development to enhance its academic, research, and community outreach initiatives over the coming decade.
  • MAU has missions that focus on producing innovative, entrepreneurial, and globally competitive graduates, conducting problem-solving research in its focus areas; and to implement development projects of national and international significance through partnerships and technology transfer.
