Welcome to the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) at Mekdela Amba University, proudly located at the Mekane Selam Campus. As Dean, I am honored to lead a college deeply committed to intellectual growth, social awareness, cultural preservation, and national development through academic excellence.

Our college is a vibrant center of humanistic inquiry and critical thought. We nurture students who will become informed citizens, educators, social workers, policy makers, and cultural advocates. CSSH combines traditional scholarship with modern perspectives, equipping students to engage with the real-world challenges of today’s rapidly changing society.

We are proud of our multidisciplinary faculty, including both experienced scholars and a new generation of energetic lecturers and PhD candidates, who bring fresh ideas and community-based perspectives to the classroom and research field.

Academic Departments CSSH, Mekane Selam Campus

  1. History and Heritage Management
    • Exploration of Ethiopian and African history, preservation of cultural heritage.
  2. Ethiopian Languages and Literature – Amharic
    • Language structure, literature appreciation, creative writing, translation, and cultural documentation.
  3. English Language and Literature
    • Developing linguistic skills, literary analysis, and communication for both academic and professional settings.
  4. Geography and Environmental Studies
    • Analysis of spatial patterns, land use, resource management, and environmental sustainability.
  5. Political Science and International Relations
    • Study of governance, diplomacy, public policy, and conflict resolution.
