Goals/Objectives
Many people agree that ICT is a backbone for almost all activities in academics, research, industry and governance. As a matter of fact, many institutions, industries and governments put their ICT directorate right under the chief executive office within their institutional structure and at ministerial level when it comes to government structure. This supports the fact that an exhaustive use of ICT is a key for organizational success. The broad duty and responsibility of the ICT Directorate is to ensure proper deployment of ICT in teaching, learning, research and overall administration at MAU.
The main objective of ICT in Mekdela Amba University is to enhance learning, improve teaching methods, and promote student engagement. ICT can make learning more accessible, personalized, and collaborative, while also providing students with valuable skills. It also supports the academic and administrative activity of the University for Swift and Quality Service Delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
1.      ICT Management:
Planning and Design: Developing and implementing ICT strategies, policies, and plans to meet the university needs.
System Architecture: Designing and overseeing the architecture of information systems, ensuring compatibility and integration.
Project Management: Leading and coordinating ICT projects, from planning to implementation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
Technical Leadership: Providing technical guidance and support to other ICT staff. 
2. ICT Maintenance and Technical Support:
Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with hardware, software, and networks.
Hardware and Software Support: Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software.
User Training: Providing training and support to users on using ICT systems and applications.
Help Desk: Providing first-level support to users, answering queries and resolving basic issues. 
3. ICT Software Developers:
Software Development: Developing, testing, and maintaining software applications.
Database Management: Designing, implementing, and managing databases.
Web Development: Creating and maintaining websites and web applications. 
4. ICT Network Infrastructure & Security
Network Infrastructure: Setting up, configuring, and maintaining computer networks.
Network Security: Implementing and maintaining network security measures.
Troubleshooting Network Issues: Diagnosing and resolving network problems. 
5. Data Center Management
Data Security: Protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
Data Backup and Recovery: Implementing and maintaining data backup and recovery procedures.
Data Analysis: Analyzing data to identify trends and patterns.
Datacenter infrastructure (Servers and core layer devices) management.

  • SIMS: Student Information Management System

  • Student SIMS: a student portal to access all the Course, curriculum, grade and dormitory information for students

  • HRMS: Designed & developed locally by MAU ICT to facilitate all the Business process of Human Resource activities.

  • Library Catalog System (Koha): Enables to maintain catalog information of MAU library

  • Digital Library System: Provides a central repository service for all the E-books Library for all Programs, Contains more than 30,000 E-Books.

  • LMS: a Learning management System designed to take Course on a Blended modality and Examination service.

  • OCS: a Campus One Card System contains a Complete, multi-functional systems are available to totally automate our campus and keep employees, students and visitors moving efficiently from the cafeteria to the classroom, the library to the dormitory, and main gate.

  • Helpdesk System: distributes incoming service requests among team members and allows them to manage follow-up on long-term with features of knowledge base, ticket management, ticket automation, ticket escalation, ticket distribution, support analytics.

  • MAU FTP Service: Designed to organize, store, and retrieve exam-related documents such as question papers, answer keys, marking schemes, and solutions. It also handles all the electronic resources of the Campus.
